Cashmere by Store of Hope

Through the years, as we have worked in Nepal building different product lines, we have been searching for a good cashmere manufacturer. Knowing that Nepal is one of the biggest cashmere producers and knowing how great cashmere is in use kept us looking, though it wasn´t simple to find a producer to match our values and ethics. It took multiple trips and visiting several manufacturers to get to this point, but now we are happy to have quality cashmere products that we can proudly bring to our customers. We are glad that we made the effort!

Our cashmere products are made by a small Nepalese family business with 21 workers.  We have been working with them for over three years now, and we have been very happy with their work. One of the most important factors for us is that the company takes good care of every employee's well-being and feels passionate about doing so. The business takes pride in paying workers a decent salary, providing good working conditions, and taking care of workers in case of sickness or other problems that may occur in their lives.

Our cashmere wool comes from goats living in the mountains of central Asia. During the cold winter, goats grow a thick underwool that makes cashmere a fine, strong, yet light and soft material. Cashmere fiber is approximately three times more insulating than sheep wool. The properties of cashmere depend on the humidity of the air, meaning it is suitable for many different climates, even the warm ones.

Cashmere works best when mixed with another fiber. That is why we use a combination of 50% lamb wool and 50% cashmere wool which ensures a durable product that will last for years.
